For its spring/summer 2016 ad campaign, Coach tapped American photographer Steven Meisel to capture a very natural, bohemian photoshoot amid the landscape in Huntington, New York. A range of talents was chosen for this photoshoot, and embodied exactly what the brand wanted to exude. Models cast were Lexi Boling, Xavier Buestel, Sora Choi, Ally Ertel, Alice Metza, Rianne van Rompaey, and Niels Trispel. But it might be said that the most talented model on the block was the adorable dog seen posing with Boling and Trispel. Stylist Karl Templer added the final touches to create the overall bohemian, natural scene for the new Coach spring 2016 campaign.
This year marks Coach’s 75th year anniversary as a brand, so this campaign was a way to launch the precedent for the year. With such a significant milestone, there is bound to be an especially great showing from the fashion house at all turns of the 2016 year.
For the Coach SS 2016 collection, which was showcased at New York Fashion Week, creative director Stuart Vevers wanted to make a youthful, flirty collection without falling to the runway standard of “over-revealing.” This allowed for the collection to be more appropriate for women of all ages, while not losing sight of a fun and bright wardrobe for the modern woman. The line was boho chic in the best sense, and with the use of florals and patchwork, the 1970s were brought back to fruition.
The Coach spring 2016 campaign truly encapsulated the eclectic style of the overall collection, while helping it maintain a sense of cohesion on top of that. Even the sweater featuring a cartoon Tyrannosaurus Rex looked right at home in the middle of floral skirts and natural scenery, which wouldn’t generally seem to be an easy feat to pull off.
One element of the campaign helped tie everything together neatly, and that was the leather. Coach is known for its leather craft, as this was the basis for the brand being formed back in 1941. Since this year is so significant on the brand’s timeline, this is a crucial time for leather pieces to take center stage. The saddle bags more than supplemented the entire collection, as this is such a simple, easygoing point of design. In recent seasons, it has again found favor in the light in the modern fashion industry. But seeing it on display with Coach is enough reason to believe this style will be a hot commodity on the market this spring as well.
The collection goes on sale on Feb. 9, so whether you’re looking for a flirty new outfit for the upcoming spring season or simply want a trendy Saddle Bag to supplement your already chic wardrobe, you’ll have to wait – but not for too much longer!
